One Indie Booksellers' Day prize is... Linda Leith!

Canadian Independent Bookstore Day (CIBD) is the annual day when readers, writers, and publishers celebrate beloved local bookstores from across the country. CIBD is also an opportunity for Canadians to champion indie bookstores. By shopping local on April 24, you are advocating for independent businesses, supporting a flourishing bookselling community, and investing in Canadian culture.

The past year has been challenging, but indies have continued to adapt and serve their communities. CIBD 2021 is our opportunity to say thank you.

National events include a one-on-one meeting on May 4, 5 – 6 p.m. for an aspiring writer with author, publisher, and Blue Metropolis founder Linda Leith during which she can share her advice and wisdom about a career in the book world.

The prize-winner will also receive a signed copy of Leith’s latest book, The Girl from Dream City: A Literary Life, as well as a copy of each of the books in University of Regina Press’s Writers on Writing series:
Gather: Richard Van Camp on the Joy of Storytelling by Richard Van Camp,
Voice: On Writing with Deafness by Adam Pottle, and
Sleuth: On Writing Mysteries by Gail Bowen.

*Please note that Leith is unable to read the winner’s manuscript(s).

Organized by the Canadian Independent Booksellers Association (CIBA).
