Saddened today to learn in Le Devoir of the death of the Quebec author Louis Gauthier.
I was proud to translate his récit autobiographique–Voyage en Irlande avec un parapluie (1999)–into English as Travels with an Umbrella: An Irish Journey (Nuage Editions, 1999), shortlisted for the Glassco Award and the QWF Literary Translation Prize.
